Re: What's are These

I know this is a pretty brief explanation but hope it helps.....

The resident is a 2nd year post-graduate in training. He/she reports to the attending physician and sometimes the fellow.
The fellow has completed a fellowship program and might be a physicians assistant, research assistant, a lecturer or a professor. Each university or hospital might have a slightly different definition of Fellow.
The attending is the staff physician in charge of patient care and acts as supervisor.

I hope you do choose the medical field. Great career choice.

Re: What's are These: ATTENDING FELLOW RESIDENT

Hmm. I'm not sure where you got those definitions.

A resident is a doctor-in-training doing his residency which is the period of training right after medical school.
A fellow is like a resident except he or she has finished their residency and is now training in a subspecialty. For example, someone who wants to be a cardiologist would do an internal medicine residency and then do a cardiology fellowship.

The medical field can be a rewarding career choice, but keep in mind that it's a very stressful one too and you do have to make a lot of sacrifices. It requires a major time commitment as far as education and training and unlike a lot of other careers, it's not as easy to change careers later in life because you've invested so much of your time and money into it.

Re: What's are These: ATTENDING FELLOW RESIDENT

Let's get this right.
An intern is right out of medical school, and is an intern for 2 years
A resident has completed his internship.
A fellow has completed his residency and is working on his specialty
An attending is an experienced physician who is over all of them
