how much do surgical techs make

how much do surgical techs make I am a scrub tech at Phx Children Hospital assisting in Peds heart surgery and my start pay straight from school was $22 an hour. But, it pay's more when you specialize in and where you work. A hospital will pay few dollars less starting. But, if you have 1 yr experience and change to another hosp, you get a more higher pay increase.

I am sure it varies from state to state. I am trying to find out the difference between and OR Nurse and and Surgical Technologist. <removed>

Re: how much do surgical techs make

Hi, I think an OR nurse would earn much more.
Surgical techs by me start at something like $11-$12 an hour. (I may be confusing scrub techs with surgical techs- is that the same thing?)
Not great, unless you're used to earning much less.
Minimum wage is about to hit $7.50, though, so $11 is vastly taking advantage of people, IMO.

Re: how much do surgical techs make

Hi. I am a scrub tech (aka surgical technologist, OR tech). At my hospital the starting pay is $18.00 per hr. We only get $1.75 for being on call and time and a half if we get called in. My hospital does not give more money for specializing. They do pay $4.00 an hour more for night shift. We are a smaller hospital. I am in Missouri. Hope this helps you out.
