So, I'm currently not taking anything for my tachycardia. My heart rate is running anywhere from 110-130 at rest. There was a period of time last year when my heart rate didn't drop below 120bpm for a few weeks. I also have a very weak pulse...which my Dr. says isn't a cause for concern.Anyway, I'm worried about my tachycardia causing damage to my heart in the future. Is this possible? Also, are the skipped beats a cause for concern? My Dr. says "they're quite common...most people have them", but I'm experiencing palps or skipped beats several times a day.

Hi there. Has your doctor given you an EVENT MONITOR (not a 24 hour monitor) to wear? This is where you wear for 30 days and record what you are feeling and you call a toll free number and your heart rate/rhthym (sp) is recorded. I am wearing one now.
I too have what you are describing and the other day the cardio doctor showed me the strips that came in from the Toll Free Number place. I have PVC's/ PAC's that are benign coming from the upper chambers of the heart that he said has nothing to do with the heart. Yes, your doctor is correct. Skipped beats are quite common and can drive a person batty but they are not life threatning. The problem is when we get these skipped and flip flop heart feelings and a racing heart (I also get waves of dizziness with some of mine) we get more anxious and this promotes more flip flops and skipped beats. I am now on a trial of an anti anxiety med that will be changed if I have side effects to the med and so on. I also have Hashimotos's Thyroiditis and Graves eyes. I am on Armour thyroid but still in a good TSH range, 1.0.
Do you see a Thyroid specialist that will communicate with your Cardiologist?
Good Luck To You.
