    Question inverted t waves

hey everyone!! i've posted on here a number of times, but always forgot to mention the fact that i have inverted t waves. i have panic disorder that has caused me to have a few episodes of really high heart rates which landed me in the ER. that was the first time they noticed inverted t waves on my EKG. they did a blood test to rule out ischemia, which was fine. since then, i haven't really gotten any answers about what could cause that and if it's really bad. my doctor said not to worry - but i can't help think about it from time to time. any advice would be greatly appreciated!! thanks, lexy

    Hi Lexy:
From my understanding, inverted T-waves can be produced by hyperventilating (or rapid breathing). Typically, the inversion shows up on only one lead and is not accompanied by elevated or depressed ST segments (the hallmarks of muscle damage or ischemia -in that order). I hope eases your concerns.
