Palpitations - any luck with non-drug cures?

    Hello there,
I recently have been identified as having PVC's and occasional SVT's, I had an event monitor and they were recorded. When they get bad, I take 25mg of Atenolol, which works for me. They get worse for me with stress.

I don't like taking drugs, so I have read about a lot of folk remedy treatments for palpitations, and I am wondering if any of these has helped you guys. Thanks for any feedback you might have.

Here is my list of items used by some people to treat palpitations:

Apple cider vinegar, alone or with Baking Soda to cut the acid.

Multi-vitamins (liquid or soft caps, apparently the tablets are not as soluble).

    Zinc.

    Selenium.

    Peppermint tea.

    Aloe Vera tablets.

    Black Strap Molasses.

    Chromium.

For reduction of calcium - Lime juice plus baking soda.

Electrolyte balancing mineral concoctions with any combination of these:
    Potassium Citrate.
    Magnesium Citrate or Chloride.
    Sodium Citrate.
    Sea Salt.
    Electrolyte balancers such as Pedialyte.

No one has tried any of these? Is everyone just on beta blockers?

Regular cardiovascular exercise such as 30 minutes daily on an exercise bicycle or treadmill greatly reduces my PVC's. If I've laid off of the exercise it takes about a week of exercise to reduce my PVC's but they mostly stay away if I exercie daily. I also eat peppermint candy frequently during the day but can't yet claim any correlation.

I take Toprol 25mg everyday. It has helped, but has not totally gotten rid of the pvc's. Did anyone mention to you about getting an echo done? My Dr.'s didn't mention it, but a cardiac nurse/family member did. I haven't had one done, but have thought about it.
I tried one time to take the apple cider vinegar and it about made me throw up. I can't imagine doing that on a daily basis.

I've had good luck with powdered magnesium citrate, 600 mg worth. I've also used the amino acid L-theanine with pretty good results. Fish oil, while useful for other cardio things has zero effect on my PVCs. They are definitely tied to my emotional state, and anxiety and the PVCs savagely reinforce eachother.

I know this was a non-drug related question, but I have found xanax does NOT stop the PVCs but does make me simply not freak out when they occur.

Does anyone know how much Apple Cider Vinegar you're supposed to drink? I occassionally will take a swig when I'm experiencing acid reflux but it's definately not on a daily basis, so I can't say whether I notice a decrease in PVC's or PAC's while taking it. It would be great if this could kill two birds with one stone for me! I'm currently taking 25mg of Atenolol but would love to get off it.

Re: Palpitations - any luck with non-drug cures?

I'm interested in non-drug cures as well. I take 25mg metoprolol as needed. I hate taking meds so i typically take one a month when they are bad on day 1 of my period. Stress definitely makes mine worse and then i seem to put myself into panic mode and have a panic attack. I hate it soo much. It really affects your quality of life when all you think about is when your next 'attack' is going to happen. The only thing that helps mine is bending over and letting the blood rush to my head. But i certainly can't do that in public or when I'm driving.
