Hi guys, I have found this forum after attempting to google some information about Hepatitis C.
Let me give you some background information. A few years ago, my dad had Hepatitis C. The therapy costs would be too expensive, so hope was low. I'm first-generation here (I live in Florida), so my parents are working at really bad jobs. But, at my mom's new job had insurance, and we found out they covered the therapy costs for hepatitis C. My dad went on it, and after about a year, he was "cured."
Well, despite my pleas for him not to drink, he drank, although significantly less then he had before. He only drinks about a beer once every week/2 weeks.
Well, fast forward to yesterday. He had just got his blood test done yesterday, and guess what.. He has hepatitis C again.... :-/
I really don't know what's going to happen now. My dad is thinking of going to the specialist again and getting more therapy.. But will the insurance even cover it?
What are the chances that he'll be "cured" again? They said treatment responds 40% of the time, but wouldn't that % be lowered for him, since he had taken the treatment before?
I really don't know what questions to ask either.. So, just tell me everything you know..
P.S., this seems like a really nice forum that I might frequent. In my future, I might go into the medical field, so hopefully this will give me a head start.
