    End Stage Liver Disease

I am wondering if anyone has experienced the final stages of non-alcoholic cirrhosis secondary to Hep C- with a loved one, my husband of 35 years is considered end stage, non-transplantable or treatable at this point- his doctor has recommended palliative care vs. hospice as his lab values don't quite meet hospice eligibility yet. He is sleeping 75% of the day, yet ammonia levels are not crazy high- in the 30s, his appetite has become almost nill- has thrown up at least 3-4 x a week lately- has terrible back pain- doctor was going to tap last week, but did not because there was less than 4 liters, he is extremely weak, unstable- requires close care at this point- what time frame are we looking at? if anyone has any insight I would appreciate it- no one seems to be able to give me at least an estimate, and I have a need to know at this point. watching him suffer with constant abdominal pain, nausea, and now basically no appetite is just torturous- help!
