    Question Hiatal Hernia surgery

I am going to have surgery soon to repair a hiatal hernia. Has anyone had it? How was it? What kind of recovery did you have? How long did it take to get back to normal? Did you really have to eat baby food for 2 weeks?

I guess I am looking for experience and reassurance since I have never had any kind of surgery before. 2/3 of my stomach is above the diaphragm and I get sharp pains right under the breastbone several times a week after eating (it does not matter what or how much I eat, the pains are random but last about 2-4 hours when I do get them). I have had all the tests (MRI, UGI, EGD) and my insides are good except the fact that the stomach is not where it belongs (I also have gallstones that are not bothering me at all, but the gallbladder will be coming out too since I am already having surgery).
