Still bigger than other side after inguinal hernia surgery

I had one side inguinal hernia surgery 1o months ago. It healed fine and no any pain, but it still looks bigger than the other side that didn't have any hernia. The surgery was traditional and a patch was placed to avoid recurrence as the surgeon told me. Is this normal or recurrence tends to happen?

Hi River9999,

I don't think it's normal. Have you talked to your surgeon?

I had open mesh repair on the left side repair 5 weeks ago and the bulge is almost back to normal. At 4 weeks, it was still larger than my hernia.

Did you have any pain near your waist 4-5" above the incision? I can feel something that seems to be a stretched muscle or something. Always under tension and it gives me moderate pain from time to time.

Had pain around my hip bone for the first month. That appears to have been a temporary side effect.
