Herniated thoracic spine. Pain when lying down

I'm 31 yrs old and two yrs ago I herniated a disc at T5 playing sports. Pain was right over spine and radiated out to the left and right pain was worse when I payed on my back Went to chiro and PT and after about a year the pain faded away. Then one month ago I was digging and I herniated disc at L5. Laid on my back with feet up on and off for about five days and suddenly pain came back in mid back in full force. Mid back is worse than lower back pain now. Does anyone else's pain come and go like that and does anyone else have more pain when lying on back?
