cold sores and caribbean vacation

I am going to be going on my first caribbean vacation and am worried about getting cold sores from the intense sun. Sun and hormones are the only things that make me break out. has anyone had experience with this kind of trip and cold sores and if so what suggestions do you have?? I have a prescription for valtrex which I take when I feel one beginning. and if I do get one from sun, will taking one dose do the trick the rest of my trip?? Any suggestions with this is greatly appreciated so I can be properly prepared!

Don't know if you've already left for your vacation, but if not....

I've never taken any oral meds for oral herpes, but since the sun definitely causes outbreaks for me, I always use an SPF 45 lip balm whenever I'm going to be in the sun (other than just walking out to my car or into a store.) I keep one with me at all times, and use it frequently when in the sun. As long as I remember to do that, I don't have any outbreaks.
