Asymptomatic with newly infected partner-concerned about relationship

Somehow just reading these posts helps and talking about it openly.
I spent the last weekend with an incredible woman that I have known for about 6 months. We first had sex a little over a month ago and everything seemed normal. Immediately after the weekend I get a text from her saying she has been diagnosed with HSV...probably type 2 now. Oddly enough she is a doctor and has dealt with patients who have this, but that doesn't make it any easier. She is currently going through personal hell with the initial OB.
I am asymptomatic and was crushed when I found this out. I am beside myself with sadness, guilt, fear, etc. I read so much about how the infected partner can become angry, hurt and often reject the other person in spite of the circumstances.
So, just as I was becoming so endeared to this wonderful person, this happens. Now I feel a distance between us...which is probably normal, but I still fear losing her now. Does anyone have any advice/experience along these lines?
