    Western Blot accuracy?

I am very disturbed hearing stories about people having positive results on the ELISA IGg and POCKIT tests and then negatives on the Western Blot.

Someone on another board wrote in response to someone with mixed results: "Your results are a classic example of why the FDA has not approved the Western Blot for confirmatory testing. Yet others swear 100% by the Western Blot. The Western is the gold standard for research but not for clinical practice. It is just for this reason that insurance companies never pay for this test until the Western Blot has the "approval" by the FDA."

Does anyone know more about this? When the FDA might approve this? I'm wondering as I tested double negative by WB and I am in a vaccine trial where the researchers are using this to qualify participants. I am going to ask the researchers' opinion too and post here if I found out anything else.
