    Western Blot?

I am asymptomatic and my titers are 3.24 for HSV II. The dr. used the IgG type specific test. I asked for a Western Blot test and they drew my blood and I am trying to get answers from the dr's office, but the receptionist said something about she didnt think there was such a thing as a WB.

Was I suppose to order the WB kit from somewhere specific and have it done in their office? Please advise.

    How accurate is the WB?

The Western Blot is done out of the University of Washington. You can contact them directly and they can send you or your doctor a kit. You get the blood drawn and send it to them and the test is run. Since they are the only one to do it, it will take longer to get the results.

The Western Blot is considered the gold standard (very very accurate) of herpes testing.

    Re: Western Blot?

I will call tomorrow and order it. I am just so frustrated! I've been on the edge of my seat waiting for the results and the dr just called to say that the lab they sent it to just ran the IgG.

Does anyone know of the Epsteins Bar Virus causing a false positive?

    Re: Western Blot?

I just ordered the kit...He said to expect it by the beginning of next week. I just need to find a dr to run it. I am not sure if that should be my primary care physician or gyn or infectious disease doc. Any suggestions?

THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP AND SUPPORT!

Check with Quest labs in NJ. Perhaps they can draw the blood for you. You many need a blood order from your doctor. Not sure if you can just walk in and ask for one.

Good luck with the process. Let us know how it goes.
