Re: Fever blisters & fatigue Why am I sick?

This issue really bothers me. I read online where the first outbreak will cause fatigue & other symptoms, and recurring outbreaks therafter are not as severe. But it knocks me down off my rear. And I did not have a problem with fever blisters until I got married. And by age 26, within 3 years after I started dating him, I was so sick with fatigue, I could have shot myself. And I have never felt okay since. And every 6-8 weeks, I am breaking out with fever blisters and getting where I can't drag out of bed, and I sware just thinking my ex may have caused this, makes me want to beat him in the head with a ballbat. EWWWWWWWW. Maybe HSV (if recurring constantly) can make you feel like a dog all the time ???????? Or am I wrong?

Thanks, I will do that IGg test then.

I am so negative for herpes. I tested negative on HSV-1 IgG & IgM and negative on HSV-2 IgG and IgM. So then what in the world is causing those fever blisters every 6 weeks or so and making me so darn sick? I cannot believe my tests were normal, I'm so relieved but I don't understand because everyone I talk to has told me that if you have cold sores/fever blisters, that the only cause is Herpes. So I know it's some kind of infection, I just can't figure out what would be doing that.

Have you been to a dermatologist?

No I haven't. What skin condition would cause exhausting fatigue? I'm starting to think maybe it's Lupus. I was diagnosed with that years ago by a rhematologist but my PCP said it was Fibromyalgia so who knew what to think (I didn't). Then I repeated my ANA recently and it was positive again. I think the issue is related to my immune system and some kind of flare up of "something" running me down. And I think the fever blisters are the clue to whatever it is. One of the most common features of Lupus are lip ulcers/sores.

i was going to say that it sounds like you may have more serious issues than what you may think is herpes. there is some fatigue and feelings of unwellness associated with herpes, but from what you are stating it sounds like it may be something else.

Re: Fever blisters & fatigue Why am I sick?

Yeah, this is pretty extreme whatever is causing it, it brings on an overwelming amount of fatigue, all I can do is sleep the start with and then just drag around like I'm half dead. My gyn told me that if I had HSV-1 that it wouldn't be doing that, that it was more likely that I wasn't sleeping well or something, that would actually trigger the HSV-1 outbreak. I however still thought it was HSV-1, I didn't know what else to think.
