HELP!!! Two negative tests bust still having symptoms?

So earlier this year I posted about my symptoms and what I thought was possibly herpes.

Since then my partner was tested and came back positive for HSV1.

My first IgG test was only a few weeks after my symptoms started (early January), so I was really unsure about the validity. It came back negative. After this I was having recurrent symptoms (itching, pain) and also had a couple of extremely tiny what looked like paper cuts on the skin right where my vaginal lips meet. My doctor attributed these to a yeast infection. This is strange to me because I've never had a yeast infection in my life prior to all of this. Still, I wanted to take his advice. The symptoms seemed to disappear for a while with topical medication and Fluconazole, but kept coming back after a week or so. So I asked for a second test to be done, just to be sure. The second IgG was on February 27th, which my doctor assured me would be ample time for any antibodies to show up. Once again the results came back negative, but sure as clockwork before my period I get the symptoms again: itching and general creepy-crawly feeling. These went away during my period, and came right back afterward. I don't understand what is happening here. If this isn't herpes, then why is it mimicking the symptoms and why the hell wouldn't it go away? My doctor has since referred me to a gyno but I won't even be able to see them until April!

It can take some people more time than others to build up enough antibodies which are detected in the blood test. Did the doctor ever do a swab culture of those paper cuts? Your description of these cuts right before and after your period is similar to mine. The changes we go through during a period can often bring on a herpes outbreak.

By April, it will have been about 3 months since you first started having symptoms? 3-4 months is GENERALLY the time it takes for your blood test to show the antibodies. If you are having any symptoms when you go to the gyno, have them swabbed along with the igg blood test.
HSV-2 positive. Found out 9-27-07. Flu-like symptom 6-7-07.
Year one outbreaks Sep Oct Nov Dec Apr Jun. Ugh.
Year two outbreaks Dec Apr/May

Re: HELP!!! Two negative tests bust still having symptoms?

Thank you so much for your reply!

As far as cultures go, when I went to the doctor he pretty much refused to even look at the cuts. In his mind I think there is no way that I have herpes. He even told me that after this second test there would not be any necessary re-testing done. I'm sitting here thinking that everything I've read online would say that is not true. He also knows that my partner tested positive for oral herpes. Not only this but I have been constantly irritated in my anal area too. I think that for now I can tough it out and wait and see what the gyno says, it just seems like a long time to wait. /sigh
