Unhappy Constant burning and itching for 3 months?? Herpes??

About 3 months ago I had a weird burning itching feeling in my vaginal area. I went to the Dr and was told I had BV took medication and the feeling didnt go away. Since then ive been to the Dr 11 times!! Ive been tested for everything and have tried everything ive even had a swab test for herpes and it was negative. All tests were negative I even had a papsmere and several swab tests for yeast and BV. Im itchy where my panty line is and sometimes it tingles and burns on my vaginal lips and close to my vaginal opening. At night its the worst and anal itching starts as well. Monday I went to the DR once again and he advised that I do a herpes blood test and said that it could be the problem but Ive never had sores or blisters just burning and itching sometimes feels like chapped lips but down there. I dont get the results back until monday and Im freaking out. I had a cold sore on the inside of my mouth and the dr prescribed acyclovir and i read thats for herpes. Its my 8th day taking it and the blister in my mouth is gone but wouldnt it help the pain down here if i had gential herpes??? This is driving me crazy and I wish monday was here so I can have some peace of mind.

Re: Constant burning and itching for 3 months?? Herpes??

OK! So I have been dealing with the same exact problem since January. I kept going back to my doctor who told me to "Just stop worrying" that I had herpes. He tested me twice. Once a couple weeks after the initial symptoms and then again about two months after. From what he told me this was sufficient testing. From what I have read online this is not the case. Its so confusing! It seems like doctors are very reluctant to diagnose herpes.

I had the same exact diagnosis as you. At first I was told it was BV, and my doctor said that after the antibiotics worked through my system that I had just managed to get a yeast infection. A yeast infection that comes on at least once a month around my period? This seems so sketchy to me. PLEASE let me know what you find out. I am planning on getting tested again in a few weeks at the third month mark to see if I have any sort of different results. What I did that seemed to help was I started taking l-lysine and avoiding foods with gluten/sugar (Yes I know, this leaves you with pretty much just veggies and meat) but if it IS just a yeast infection that will help to knock it out. Good luck.

Unhappy Re: Constant burning and itching for 3 months?? Herpes??

this sounds exactly like what ive been going through, ive gone to doctors countless times..and they all keep telling me its nothing to worry about (had many pap smears, got referred to two specialists, did a blood test though i know those arnt that accurate, been treated for bv, had swabs taken, visual examinations etc) like Im feeling so helpless because I know something is wrong, yet no one else sees it.

Please update us on what you found out! Would be MUUUCH appreciated

I would consider these things: mycoplasma and ureaplasma. Two types of underlying conditions that can cause repeated infections with bv.

Important steps:

1. During treatment, it's important to refrain from sex with partner, and for partner to get treated too, otherwise you can pass it back and forth. Request that your doctor do a dna swab to test for these infections, as they are not detected by a simple bacterial swab (they have no cell wall, and are not visible under a microscope).

2. Must get treated with antibiotics for mycoplasma/ureaplasma - zithromax, doxycycline, minocycline. You may have to treat more than once, however, the percentages show more than most respond to the first treatment. Keep in mind, this will not kill the "bv", but will kill the underlying problem.

3. THEN, must undergo treatment for bv again, with tinidazole or metronidazole.

4. THEN, must follow up with a good probiotic, nature's way or another full-spectrum probiotic to replenish the healthy bacteria in your body.

Hope this helps!
