    Confused by cholesterol level results

Just had my bloods done last week for my diabetic review, I have had very good blood sugar control for many years now, have not gone above 43 mmol/mol for many years and have never had statins suggested so assume my cholesterol levels have always been good.

I'm a female age 46, Non-Smoker but am overweight (am at slimming world but struggle with very slow losses due to masses of intolerances / allergies so end up eating mostly pasta & potatoes)

The results from last week are:

    Serum cholesterol 4.6 mmol/L
Serum HDL cholesterol level 1 mmol/L
    Serum cholesterol/HDL ratio 4.6
Se non HDL cholesterol level 3.6 mmol/L

The HDL one has gone down a lot since last years bloods, last year I was at 1.6 mmol/L but this year it has suddenly dropped to 1 mmol/L, I've read that this is quite low and should be over 1.5 for women. This result has not been flagged as abnormal by my GP and has been reported as in normal range (I assume because the Serum cholesterol/HDL ratio is within limits) my Dad had heart disease and had to have an operation in his 50's so I'm a little concerned that I should be doing something about it.

Any knowledge or advice on this would be appreciated, I do have an appointment with my GP at the end of May for something else but wondering if I should mention that one low level.
