    Triglycerides keep rising

I've had high cholesterol for over 10 years now. It never was really bad, but not great. Over the past year has been getting significantly worse. I have been put on fenofibrate for three months with no improvement. Switched to simvastatin and more blood work after 2 months. Triglycerides went to 17.91( 691.5)and could not get readings on LDL or hdl. Doctor now wants to start me back on fenofibrate with simvastatin. Any help on what else is going to help. I have been doing the exercise and eating healthy.

There was a guy who posted on this site that at one point he had a Triglyceride
    level of 4000, yes 4000.

He got on a Low Carb/No Carb Diet and was put on either 40 or 60 MG of Lipitor or Crestor, he also got on a exercise program and within 3 months had his level down to normal.

Talk to your doctor about something like that and see what he says.

My own level at my last physical was about 450. I was already on exercise and a Low Carb diet, started taking Crestor and within 3 months I was at normal.

My triglycerides spike regularly from the medication I am on. I now take Plant Sterols- found at any health food store...they keep my triglyercides where they should be. Everytime I run out or go off of them for more than 2 days, they spike again, so I know they are working.
Look into Plant Sterols...it cant hurt.

Have you tried immediate release niacin? It brought down my triglycerides numbers. I was put on a statin, but my liver numbers shot up and I was taken off immediately. The only thing I hate about it is the flushing that happens half the time for me.
