I know that Oatmeal is good for cholesterol. What I would like to know is eating cold oatmeal have the same effect on your cholesterol as cooked oatmeal? Every morning I have a big bowl of cold oatmeal (quick cook oatmeal in the big round container) sprinkled with cinnamon and flax seed, and topped with raisins and a banana and a little vanilla soy milk and skim milk...yummie. But now I'm wondering if cooked is better. Does anyone know about this? Thanks for all your help..

Re: Question about Oatmeal
I don't know if cooked is better, but your recipe sounds delicious. I think I may try that!

Re: Question about Oatmeal
Oatmeal is great for you. My Doctor told me that eating Oatmeal daily is very good as a dietary source to help lower cholesterol. Also it has other health benefits as well!

Hey! I tried this recipe and it is GREAT! How much flax seed do you use? The only difference is I added walnuts to mine. I feel like I am eating the breakfast of champions by eating this every morning

Re: Question about Oatmeal
Glad you liked it! I sprinkle a couple of teaspoons of ground flax seed on it. It seems like a very healthy breakfast, and filling. Didn't think about walnuts...I'll have to add that, plus get a bigger bowl to boot. LOL !! Hopefully this will help with getting those numbers down. Enjoy !!

I highly recommend the walnuts. Walnuts are a "superfood". They are on the list of top 10 foods that reduce blood cholesterol. I eat a lot of them now for that reason, and because I need additional sources of protein other than meat. They are delicious in the oatmeal. Thanks again for the recipe. I never would have come up with it on my own!
