| Re: High troponin
Hi Benny, sorry to hear about your problems with severely high blood pressure.
High propornin levels could also indicate that there is damage to the heart with or without having a heart attack. This wouldn't surprise me. Over time, unhealthy high blood pressure will put to much stress on the heart and weaken and/or damage the heart.
As you know, your high blood pressure seems to be at very risky levels. If it were me I would try everything that I could do to get that blood pressure down to healthier levels ASAP!
I had chronic, untreatable high blood pressure for many years, until I finally started getting a handle on it in 2004. I had to take my blood pressure almost 31000 times from 1998 thru 2010 to figure out what was causing my blood pressure problems. I was able to gradually and slowly reduce my blood pressure as I learned what was causing my high blood pressure.
I realize that everyone is different, but, I figured that it might be useful to see, some of what I went thru. First... the following shows how my blood pressure behaved, by hour, when my blood pressure was at unhealthy levels.
My nasty, scary Blood Pressure averages, for each hour (1 thru 24 or 1am thru 12 midnight), Jan 2002 thru Dec 2003 (24 months, 2455 readings).
Blood pressure for most people is lower during the earlier day and increases throughout the day, effected, of course, by when one takes bp meds.
Hour Systolic/Diastolic "Number of readings"
1 153/93 10
2 143/93 20
3 144/94 19
4 146/97 17
5 152/98 17
6 153/100 34
7 157/101 95
8 145/92 141
9 140/89 183
10 143/91 223
11 146/93 174
12 148/94 166
13 151/98 100
14 152/97 79
15 153/96 106
16 149/94 127
17 148/93 90
18 150/95 114
19 152/96 140
20 158/100 163
21 162/102 175
22 164/104 149
23 159/100 75
24 154/100 29
Average daily blood pressure for 2002-2003: 151/96; Total readings: 2455
These were my blood pressure readings during 2002 and 2003, by hour of day. Hour 1 is 1am (153/93) and hour 13 is 1pm (151/98). These were two long years of my blood pressure averaging 151/96 every hour of every day (based on 2,455 bp readings).
Every night between 10pm and midnight (20-24), my diastolic averaged at least 100! I was scared out of my mind! I tried every different kind of blood pressure medication available and nothing worked!
I am very lucky that I lived, or did not stroke out, during those years, especially considering that I was also dealing with Heart Failure, Permanent Atrial Fibrillation and Heart Valve Disease.
My blood pressure now averages 122/72 every hour of every day, all the time. I am feeling better at age 74 than I did when I was 50 and am doing so well, I have stopped going to my cardiologist. Despite the Heart Failure, I can do 900 weight lifts, 750 knee bends, stationary bike, 30 minute power walk, every day without suffering any breathing problems or chest pains, or higher blood pressure.
How did I do this? A significant contributing factor was DIET. I was diabetic and suffered from Insulin Resistance. I went on a very healthy, small meal, frequent eating, low glycemic, ovo-vegetarian diet of 50% carbs, 30% fats and 20% proteins; with a total calorie load (less fiber) for the day of about 1100 calories. I have eaten around six small meals a day over the past 13 years. If I had a choice I would gladly and quickly go back to pizza and chicken wings and snacking and fast food and eating out. Fortunately, I found out what could greatly improve my health and my life and I stayed with it.
A healthy diet can do wonders for one's health. It is a most powerful medicine. However... I would not expect many to go on a diet like mine, unless they also have serious, life-threatening health problems, like me. I have to diet like this. If I stray off my diet, my symptoms get worse and my health gets worse.
A very strict diet, like mine, might not be appropriate for others, but it worked very well for me.
Best of luck and health!
