Someone mentioned facial flushing on Lotrel (Calcium component). This happens to me as well. It looks like I have been out in the sun at times. It is a side-effect of Lotrel I believe.
B/P was 113/62 over the weekend on Altenolol & Lotrel. Doc. plans to take me off of Lotrel in a few weeks.
Going in for bloodwork tomorrow. Wish me luck. Need to get rid of my hypochondria....

Yep, facial flushing can be a side effect of CCBs. Hey, think of it this way: people spend millions of $$ on self-tanners to get that healthy glow!
Good luck with bloodwork tomorrow, and let us know results when you have them. Bet all will be fine!
Your BP is spectacular.

Re: Facial Flushing
I hear you. I just didn't understand how I had that "glow" without even being out in the sun. Now it makes sense.
Finally going to be brave enough to do the blood test. Tired of being a paranoid hypochondriac for a year+ from all of the side-effects. Don't want my girlfriend to have to go through this with me every week with B/P & the side effects of the meds.... Nothing bad can come of this. At 33, I seriously doubt that something is wrong. This is the last of my trial & error for a while. Have a follow-up appt. on 5/6 & that is it. She is taking me off of the Lotrel, so maybe I will lose some of the glow, but less meds. Praying for good results....
Quick question, does it matter if I take the b/p meds before my appt. at 8:45??? They said no at the docs. office, but I don't want it to elevate my liver enzymes. Thanks.

When do you usually take your meds? A.M. or P.M? Take your BP meds at exactly the same time as you usually do. Don't break stride now...because, knowing you(!) if ANYTHING is even infinitesimally askew, you won't feel reassured if the doc says 'It's of no clinical significance and everything is okay"! And if your BP meds are elevating your liver enzymes, it should be known.

Re: Facial Flushing
I take Lotrel at night & Altenolol in the morning. I was under the impression that you shouldn't take anything prior to the doc., but they said the same thing as you Zuzu. You are right. I'm probably looking too much into this.
