    Blood Pressure 155/105

    I'm 26 W/Female.
I have never in my life had any problems with my blood pressure.
Even in crazy, abnormal , unpredictable situations..
    It's remained , the normal.
Now..I am not sure if I had a panic attack or not a week ago, as I have never had one, but I finalyl got through it..
But that's besides the point, I kept a headache for 6 days last week, and my mother informed me that it could be my blood pressure, we have been keeping check on it all day, and the lowest was 143/90..and it's been up high ever since.
Is this dangerous, should I seek medical attention.
I am not overweight, I eat relativley healthy, I guess..Not all the time, but for the most part, and I am pretty active in my life..???

    <<Freaking in Texas!!!

Thanks for input advice or Help.

Yes you should seek medical treatment. There may be something else going on. Make sure your doctor checks your thyroid.

Even young people have clogged arteries or other problems and because your blood pressure has not come down you need to find out why. There may be reasons you haven't even thought of so yes you should be sitting in a doctors office like yesterday! It is too high for your age and the lower number is telling you your heart isn't resting very well.

    Re: Blood Pressure 155/105

    Jenniferlea,

are you on a birth-control pill? Estrogen and progesterone hormones raise blood pressure. The blood pressure elevations, when they occur, are usually mild - 6/5mmHg or so. Some women on the pill, however, develop malignant hypertension.

You mention a possible recent panic attack, which would indicate considerable anxiety. When our stress hormones -catecholamines- are released by the brain and adrenal glands in response to stress, they cause the blood pressure, heart and breathing rates to rise.
There are many possible causes of blood pressure elevations. Your doctor will determine if you have high blood pressure, look for its cause and initiate a treatment, if necessary. Are you on any medication? Some of them cause increases in blood pressure. Just a thought: do you take the blood pressure readings correctly? It is rather surprising that your blood pressure should be at its lowest between 9:00 and 10:00 a.m. This is not consistent with the established pattern of blood pressure fluctuations and the circadian rhythm.

Good luck - don't forget to book an appointment with your doctor.

My blood pressure is usually very low in the morning. It's caused me to revert back to using caffeine and meds to even be able to get moving (and not end up on the floor). But I'm typically in the 70s/40s at this time - and not normal.

That said, since she said those were her readings for the night I believe those are all PM readings, 5:35pm to 11:30pm after which she probably went to bed.

What happened around 10pm? That diastolic is so much lower then the rest. If there was something you (jenniferlea) done around this time it may be helpful at other times - ie, relaxing more or such.

Sorry, you're right. Jenniferlea did say the readings listed were for the night. It would be interesting to see Jenniferlea's daytime blood pressure readings, especially the one taken first thing in the morning.
