    High systolic, low diastole

What causes your stystolic reading to be higher than your diastole reading?

At the dentist today my blood pressure reading was 131/62. Is is normal for someone to have a higher stystolic and a lower diastole?

Other blood pressure readings at dentist
    August 09 - 110/66
    March 10 - 115/71

My hands and feet have been a lot colder than they normally are. My feet are even turning purple and it's not freezing in my house. Just wondering if that has something to do with my blood pressure readings.

    Re: High systolic, low diastole

Not sure why yours hands and feet are colder than normal right now but from the #s you have given us, it's unlikely to be blood pressure related.

The systolic #s are always higher than the diastolic. Optimal BP is considered 120/80, or lower. Your #s are terrific. Even the little systolic spike you had at the dentists office (the 131) is nothing to worry about and perfectly normal in a clinical setting. Doctors usually don't worry unless numbers are approx 140/90 (or above) and sustained at that level.
Blood pressure is supposed to fluctuate by the way (unless you're a cadaver!)

Thank you! I'm going to the doctor soon for other problems so I'll bring it up then. Kind of freaks me out when my toes get cold and turn purple (not to mention go numb sometimes!)
