Wrist Blood pressure monitors???

I would like anyone who has used an Omeron Wrist blood pressure monitor to respond please. I would like to know if they are accurate and worth the purchase of one? They seem quite easy to use, but I do question if they are accurate. Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Re: Wrist Blood pressure monitors???

A friend of mine has one, but also has the Omron self inflateable arm one. She says the arm one is more accurate. I have the arm one, and was checked out with 2 different drs. who said it was pretty much on. Maybe someone else can give you more info. Good luck!! <IMG SRC="">JJ

Re: Wrist Blood pressure monitors???

When my dr first thought I had (very) high blood pressure, he asked me to monitor it myself. I bought a wrist model that gave me consistent readings around 130/75.

My dr refused to accept these readings, said wrist monitors are usually inaccurate. I bought another, for upper arm, and got 180/80, which agrees with my dr's readings.

Don't know the model you mention, but I would avoid any wrist model

Good luck

Re: Wrist Blood pressure monitors???

I have the Omoron Wrist Monitor and it is not worth 2 cents.

The A&D auto inflate monitor was suggested by a hypertenssion specialist, hypertension researcher at a medical school.

Be sure and get a montior with correct size "cuff". Too small a cuff and readings will be too high and too loose will be too low. Measure arm and request machine with proper size cuff.
