Question I'm 18 and believe I may be having a hormone imbalance problems.

I believe I may be having hormone imbalance problems. I read about them and I know that it is often related to menopause. I'm obviously not experiencing that, but I know that you don't have to be to have hormone imbalance problems. I also read the symptoms and I have many of them. Not including things that I would believe are related even if they aren't listed as a symptom.

-I have low and sometimes no sex drive.(I'm young still so this concerns me.)
-I get really tired just by doing things like laundry or the common chores.
-I sometimes experience heat flashes when doing exhilarating jobs.
-When I get motivated to do something after fighting my fatigue I find it hard to relax and fall asleep.
-When I do fall asleep I have a hard time staying that way or I sleep too much sometimes more than 10 hours.
-I am often irritable and/or moody.
-I have hair that grows back WAY too fast, and in odd places for a woman.
-I have really dry skin on my legs ONLY.
-I can't lose more than about 3 pounds on a diet.
-I can however gain it all back plus some.

Those were the symptoms I've read about.

Other things that I'm not sure are related but concerned about:

-Back aches. (keep in mind I'm only 18)
-Underdeveloped breasts (my opinion)( I don't know how to tell)

I have no idea where to go to get tested for all of this, or what to get tested for... I definitely don't have to money to get the run around from doctors either... if anyone has any advice please help.

    Thanks,
    Theresa

    Sorry you're having problems.
It sounds like what you're experiencing could be hormone problems---the best place to find out is a teaching or research hospital.
There are good doctors out there---but it's very hard to find them---unless you know someone who has found them.
Some of the things you may want to do additional research on are:
    thyroid, hypopituitarism, Cushings, PCOS.
    Good luck with stuff.

ok I'll keep that in mind. Also, I noticed that when I was on birth control I stayed around 200 and when I got off them...because I no longer had a job at the time that my weight has gone up snce then. I figured since birth control is actually a hormone, that thats another reason to suspect a hormone problem espcially since most women gain weight when they use the pill.

Yeah...it's weird that you actually lost weight on bp...
Definitely check out a teaching hospital---your state is big enough for medical schools.
Our state doesn't have it's own medical school---so I had to go out of state.

sorry it took so long to reply, I've been working alot....but yes thank you. As soon as I get on my feet and get a new car, I will definately research on this issue of mine.... maybe then other things could balance out for me too.

My 22 yr. old niece was just diagnosed with PCOS and has many of the same symptoms. Ask your health practitioner to consider it.
