Exclamation std.. hpv

I would like to put a message out there to all girls that if you are a virgin talk to your parents about getting the HPV vaccination. If you do not know what HPV is its called the human papilloma virus and can cause cervical cancer and/or genital warts. My boyfriend and I decided to have sex for the first time and I was a virgin and so was he(as he said), we were together for about 9 months at the time and we only had sex once. He used a condom and somehow I contracted HPV. I never had any signs at all I had it for 2 years and never even knew until it came up in an abnormal pap smear. I went for a coloscopy in Dec. and it was very very painful. Guys only carry the virus although I think it can cause genital warts on the penis, I am not sure. But the virus does not affect the male. So please be careful, statics show that 80% of girls that are sexually active and have been with 3 partners have contracted hpv. It can go away on its own but if it doesn't you could have cervical cancer.

"But the virus does not affect the male"

HPV causes venereal warts, and cancer of the penis in males.

Re: std.. hpv

i am just bumping this back up....I completely support the vaccine...I got hpv without even having sex...just fooling around. I didn't know about it for a year or so when I got and ASCUS pap...then I was scared so I thought that if I didn't know what was wrong then I wasn't sick...well that was stupid...I waited a year to get a followup pap and it was then abnormal and I went in for a colposcopy...I didn't want my parents finding out so i went to planned amazing place...but it costed $280!!!..Well I came back with cervical cancer and had to get the LEEP conization procedure. It was very expensive and i ended up having to tell my parents about it. The first time they met my boyfriend (who did not give it to me) was at my surgery...very akward because they didn't know he didn't give it to I said before..I fully support the vaccination. Cervical cancer is the number 2 cancer causing death in the world for women
