Is it possible for a non-hpv person to contract hpv by just touching the positive-hpv persons private area, either when that person has symptoms or not? Also, if the non-hpv person touches the positive-hpv persons private area and then touches their own private area by way of hands, is it possible to contract hpv that way?

Re: hpv

Yes it is possible to get HPV by touching of the genital areas as you described. Do you know for sure the person has HPV?

Re: hpv

There is no specific person that I know that has HPV. I have been reading about HPV and have not seen any information that covered this type of contact. Thank you for your response.

Re: hpv

Jim, I read one report that said that HPV has been found underneath the fingernails, so I am assuming that touching the genitals with your hand can spread HPV if someone is infected.
