told me that to do the LEEP procedure, she would have to give me general anesthesia. I've read on the web and on boards like these that on the most part, this procedure is done using local anesthesia.

Is it "usual" procedure for some people to be "knocked out" for LEEP? and, does it mean anything in terms of how large the affected area is?

Thanks for any answers!

Re: My GYN

You should be told how large the effected area is. If your doctor hasn't told you, then ask for a copy of your pathology report and read what it says.

It is possible your doctor is doing a cold knife cone biopsy instead of a LEEP. The CKC is usually done under general anesthesia, not local. I've read of some women (not many, but some) who have a LEEP under general.

I had a CKC under general.
