I am convinced i have ovary cancer

Hi i am a 20 yr old female who is very much a hypochondriac!! Back in January I had a sonogram performed and they found a cyst. They were convinced it was a dermoid, so i needed surgery to get it removed! I guess it went away on its own since when they cut me open, everything was fine looking! My symptoms then were dull aches around my pelvic region, burning sensation in pelvis that radiates to upper thighs, frequent urination and somewhat bloating. Fast foward now six months later, i am experiencing pretty much the same exact symptoms. Except this time Ive experienced bad indigestion, which i know is a symtom of ovary cancer. (ive been diagnosed with acid reflux though so im not worried much about it). And now my periods a little different. I used to bleed 6-7 days and now only about 3! I still do get a normal period which is every 28-30 days. The first days light and then the next two are heavy!! The day afer that, theres no bleeding at all, and then two light days after that. Idk if this has to do with my poor diet (im over weight), or my low egg count or a hormone imbalance. Im a bad hypochondriac and im convinced im dying. I have not seen a gyno yet in my lifetime. Is it possible a new cyst formed or the old one came back? Or ovary cancer?! Thank u!!

Hi there. I dont understand; how did you find out you had a cyst and who cut you open if you have not yet seen a gynecologist?

Having a gyn appointment is the most important thing you can do for yourself. Although the first visit is nerve wracking, you will find that a female gyn will take your fears into consideration and make it as easy as possible.

This is the most important doctor you can see. Please ask around for a gyn in your area who people like...and make yourself an appointment.

Your symptoms are NOT ovarian cancer; however, if you have a history of cysts, you really need a doctor who specializes in female health.

You are going to be fine, as long as you have a doctor watching your health.

A fertility specialist who also is a gyno performed the laparoscopic surgery. I went to the ER to get the sonogram and because they stated it was a dermoid, they also said it was 6cm and needed removal by surgery. I called up my nearby gyno and she just referred me to my surgeon. This is why im curious if it came back this time

    Dear torirose,

Didn't you state that "I have not seen a gyno yet in my lifetime"?

Never mind; It is very important that you be seen by a gynecologist, get tested and find out what is wrong in there. It's useless for anyone to try to guess.

You need to see a gyno. Birth control can help control these cysts but you need to find out more about them than just having them removed. You need to see if they can be prevented. And FYI, fertility specialists are typically gynos.

I know this is an old post but just wondering if you have seen a gyno yet? I agree that this is the best course of action. They know what is and is not normal.

I understand the hypochondriac part of you, I too deal with it. I was also convinced I had some kind of gynecological caner due to pelvic pain and feeling unwell in general. Had an ultra sound last week, just got results of free fluid in pelvis from a ruptured cyst and 2 uterine fibroids which were responsible for heavy periods with clots. The waiting for results is agonizing for people with health anxiety, but the best thing you can do is talk with a doctor. Good luck!
