Panic disorder or hypochondria?

I am 38. Six months ago my father passed away suddenly of severe heart attack and since then I continuously feel that I would also die suddenly at any moment. I frequently suffer from symptoms like chest pain, short breath, dizziness restlessness etc and sometimes have full-blown panic attacks. I avoid going out alone as far as possible. I have stopped going to gym as I am afraid of having an heart attack (?) on treadmill.
I have had all the blood tests done (thyroid, glucose, cholesterol, hemoglobin etc) which came negative. My blood pressure and EKG is also absolutely normal. Even then I am not calm and continue to feel that something is wrong with my heart. Now, I am on Lexapro and klonopin for last 2 weeks and feeling better. When I discussed about this problem with my family doc, he said that what I am suffering from is nothing but the “Hypochondria”. He further said that sudden death of some loved one can trigger this disorder. Is there anybody having similar experience?
