Point me in a direction please

So when I was diagnosed with hypoglycemia, the entirety of the doctor's advice was "eat like you're diabetic". Um, okay.

I did really good until recently. I had a cushy office job and always had something on my desk. Sipped on soda, had a jar of peanuts, Ensure in the office fridge, peanut butter granola bars under the printer, etc. I did have my occasional crashes, but overall I kept my symptoms down.

Now I'm doing more physical work. I've had to mostly stop the soda, so it's unsweetened tea or water. I can't constantly eat, meal breaks (while reasonable) are pretty strict. Less pay, a lot less snacks at home. I'm trying for high protein to compensate, but I'm still feeling bad a lot. Because I feel bad a lot now, fruit has gone from a pleasure to a fear as I can't just snack on it or have it as a non-work day breakfast, it has to be paired with protein or I react like I've had a soda.

So please direct me to resources where I can find a good diet plan. I gotta get this back under control. An appointment with a dietitian is not in the budget right now.

Just look for Atkins diet related.

More fat, less carbs.

Fat digests slower which is better for hypoglycemics.

You need to eat more often and smaller portions.
