    Senior Hysterectomy

I am 70 years old and had a robotic hysterectomy on 12/17 due to pelvic floor prolapse. I am experiencing a lot of pain on my right side just BELOW the two incisions. Even very lightly brushing my fingers across my skin is very painful.
Thus I am finding it impossible to stand any clothing. For this reason I haven't been out of the house except for post surgical visit. The doctor said it will take the tissue 12 weeks to heal. Everything I read says 6 weeks but even that is
a long time not to be able to stand pants on. I bought the surgical underwear on ****** because they are soft and come up over the incisions. It's this constant extreme irritation so by 7 PM i am close to tears. Has anyone
else had this experience. Again its not the incisions themselves but the the area beneath them.

It is surprising that the tissue is still that tender. I did not have tenderness for long at all. But I had an abdominal hysterectomy not robotic. Granted, recovery typically takes longer as we get older but still.

    I hope it improves soon.

Your muscles were cut and although 6 weeks is standard for them to heal, they continue healing up to 12 weeks; thus what your doctor said is true.

If you are having that much pain, give your surgeon a call...they may want to check your stitches or incision to see if anything is infected.

    Re: Senior Hysterectomy

Update. It is now six weeks and I am still experiencing the same painful tissue on my right side. Strange to me that I have had no pain on my left side at all.

When I was 36 I had an abdominal c-section, was cut from naval down. And after first two days I had no pain.

So why this robotic hysterectomy is so much more difficult is frustrating.
I feel no improvement at all. I know it could take 12 weeks for the muscles to heal but I expected that there would be a gradual improvement over that time.

I go to the surgeon next week so I'll see what she says.

I agree that something is not right. I hope you get answers. I was dismissed by my surgeon when I presented with surgical "abnormalities" post-op. If you also experience this, hopefully, your PCP will be able to help you. Please keep us posted.
