crying spells - I need help

I am 6 months post total hysterectomy, just turned 43, and on estrogen. Having crying spells the last two weeks. The docs answer is an anti depressant. Anybody have any suggestions?

Question Help - new at this

First time using a message board but I am at my wits end. Had a hysterectomy six months ago and all was going well until about two weeks ago when I spent three days crying out of control for absolutely no reason. Call the doc and he suggested an anti depressant. After several phone calls they changed my HRT to a patch instead of a pill and I hate it! Was ok for several days and no very tearful again.

Would like to talk to someone who has been through this. I am waiting for the day I can say they hyst. was the best thing I ever did but I am not feeling that right now. Other than the crying spells I feel pretty good.

Did you ask your doctor about adjusting your hormones? I would think that crying spells should first be looked into as a symptom of the hyst and hormone therapy, before jumping to the conclusion of "emotions" or depression - especially if you feel little control over the crying jags.

Of course, all of that assums that you haven't had any other major events recently.

When did you see your doctor last? What is your gyno or your GP?

Take care and let us know how you are doing!

Can not seem to get to the doctor. May need to make an appointment. They adjusted the hormones last week to a patch but I hate it. Not sure if I am going to go back to the pills rather than the patch. I just want things fixed at this point. Had another bad day yesterday but today is better. May just need to track it for a while and see where things go.
