    Question Lab results/Immune system help

I got some lab results back today that I could use help with.

My NK count is a 5 ref 8-170
    WBC is 3.7 ref 4-10.8
    Anti-Streptolysin O is high at 212 ref <200

EBV IGM AB .70 no ref..
EBV VCA IGG AB High at >7.00

EBV (EBNA) AB (Igg) High at 1.27

Does anyone know what this means and what I can do to boost my immune system? Does Transfer Factor help with NK count? Thank you for any help you can provide. My doc isnt being of much help.

    Hey there,

Well I can try to help you. Although I am not sure if what I say is 100% true at least it can help you out a little. I think ref. means what the normal range for these tests are.

NK stands for natural killer cells which are a part of the innate immune system meaning they need to triggers to be made, they are always circulating around your body looking for foreign material (cancer cells, viruses, etc.)

I imagine WBC includes all of your white blood cells, including T cells, B cells, etc. Alot of these cells are circulating as well, but some also need triggers to be made and multiply.

I am sorry, and dont know what Anti-Streptolysin O means.

Were these tests for mono as well............because i think EBV means epstein bar virus which is the virus which causes mono.

The EBV values are the antibodies produced by your body in response to the virus. I am not sure who these number values compare though.

I am not really sure of ways to boost your immune system, but go to your pharmacy and ask about vitamins, etc.

I hope this helps, and sorry i couldnt be of greater help
