What does it smell like? Urine smell can be affected by diet (such as after eating asparagus), infection (bacterial vaginosis) etc. Smell can help clue you in.

Does she have discharge?

You said she's incontinent...does she smell like ammonia? Leakage can cause that. She might try kegels to strengthen the muscles in the area.

There are a lot of things that can cause foul smelling urine, but there is no way for anyone to tell for sure on here. I can however list some of the possibilities, but for best results have her doctor give you the name of a speicialist (this is usually required by insurance)

Its possible that she is simply dehydrated. If she is diabetic that could be very likely. Excess sugar is forced into the urine, its then followed by water leading to dehydration, so its possible even if she's drinking a lot.

A GI tract infection could be the cause, the liver is the filter of the body. While a blood/urine test would be the best way to see what is wrong, a more advanced case of liver failure will show a yellow pigment.

Keep in mind that your average doctor doesnt know a thing about diagnostics. Its their job to know what part of the body is having trouble and send you to a specialist for that specific part. The human body is infinatly complex so there really is no way for your primary doctor to be able to diagnose you every time. Hope this helps.

i would certainly go see another doc. She is way too young to be having this promblem. something is causing it
