Question unsteadiness due to inner ear issue?

I have had some issues with what cannot technically be called vertigo, as it does not play out like a true spinning dizziness. Instead, the sensation is like you might feel if you were walking on the deck of a rocking boat. The first time I had this about 2 years ago it was scary. My BP shot up to 180 systolic. I went to the ER and had an mri done of brain. Guess they were looking for evidence of a stroke. Everything was normal in the mri. They sent me home with a drug (probably Antivert) used for Meniere's disease which I do not have. The episode resolved without any drugs.

This happened to me again today. I took my BP and it was not elevated at all. I ended up taking small dose of alprazolam thinking it could be angst causing symptoms and after about an hour the sensation of unsteadiness went away. But I noticed I still had some mild "positional vertigo". I think there are crystals that form in the inner ear and when they shift or float around it can give you the symptoms I have. Does anyone have this problem?

About 20 yrs ago I had labrynthitis which was a true nightmare..this is not nearly as bad as that was.
