    Otitis media with effusion

I am a 26 year old female with chronic ear problems in my left ear. I also have TMJ-D, which I'm sure exacerbates the issues. My ear drum (left side) ruptured yesterday due to a middle ear infection caused by a cold. This time last year, I had this same problem and had to get tubes placed in my ear. Regardless, this is now. I went to urgent care and got oral and suspension antibiotics, blah blah blah. My concern is about the next few weeks and quite a few flying trips I've got lined up. In about a week I'm scheduled to fly out to Chicago from LA and I'm worried about my ear and how it will be affected. I worry because I am flying overseas next month, I'll be on multiple flights before I touch down in Europe. Will my ear drum re-rupture (If it heals up before hand?) How long does it take for an ear drum to repair itself?

Are there any ENT's out there who can give me some advice about what to do? My current symptoms are tinnitus and hearing loss, not really much pain since the rupture yesterday. I know my eustachian on that side is blocked because when I burp i hear it open abruptly and there is slight pain, and it slams shut again. Also, there is regular discharge from the ear, most heavy at night.

    Please, any advice would help.
