    Vestibular neuritis & brain fog/concentration

I was diagnosed with vestibular neuritis approx 6 months ago. Have had symptoms for two years. My biggest complaint is my concentration has been severely affected on a daily basis. Feels like head is a fog. The off balance part has gotten better, but brain fog (only name i could find to describe it) has gotten much worse. I have done the Vest PT at home for few months with no help. The concentration part is seriously affecting every day life. Anyone have similar experiences? Thanks

    Hi

The good news is that there is hope, you can be yourself again

I had exactly what you are describing... My cognitive ability was terrible, I had to stop working... My balance was ok, I could even ice skate...

I had tests done and found out that my brain no longer trusted the vestibular and would not use it. The exercise I did on the balancing mat, made my brain use my vestibular, as it had no choice. It could not use my eyes, or my feet/legs, so it had to use the vestibular... The specialist told me to do nothing else, just the exercise on the balancing mat. I tried to space it out during the day, a few hours apart at least... If you can only do 2, that is ok, but space them out... I still do 4 every day. My brain fog disappeared 2 years ago this month... My vocabulary is amazing now. I lost my vocabulary when in the fog, had trouble finishing sentences, could not play Pictionary... Could not problem solve. My brain is back, and I can work again.

Please click on my name to find my other posts... Please ask any questions, I am happy to help, because I understand how terrible the brain fog is...

    Hi

I just wanted to say that I had terrible cognitive issues.

Please click on my name and look at my previous post: Vestibular recovery - How did you do it?

I know that everything is so much harder to do with brain fog...
