    Inner Ear Infection for Months?

    Hey All,

So mid-january I got sick with the cold/flu(wicked bad cough and terrible neck/body soreness). I guess did the thing I always did and just ignored it, I kept hitting the gym and running outside like an idiot. Well after a week or 2 it turned into bronchitis, and the bronchitis stuck around for about another 3 weeks.

During the bronchitis I started to feel my ears get congested/block. Went to a walk-in clinic the next day and got diagnosed with an ear infection in my right ear and bronchitis and prescribed a 5 day course of Zithromax. Started taking them but that night my right ear started to discharge fluid (ruptured eardrum?).

Continued with the antibiotics and started to feel better. The bronchitis cleared up. Ear kept discharging (once or twice a day) and feeling full and aching mildly. Anyway, on the 3rd day of antibiotics I had to fly across the country for the next week which probably did me no favors although the flights were pretty uneventful except for weird sinus pressure stuff and more discharge from my right ear.

So after I finished up the course of antibiotics and was done with all the flying, my bronchitis seemed to go away completley and my ear stopped discharging. However, both of my ears felt terribly congested and my Eustacian tubes felt closed until around the start of March. Eventually they went from blocked to making a bunch of clicking and bubbling noises and I started getting postnasal drip and coughing up mucus.

I went back to the walk-in clinic since I was coughing up mucus. They said my right ear looked infected and prescribed me a 10 day course of Amoxycillan which I've been taking since then but it doesn't seem to be making much of a difference (I'm on day 9 of that).

Currently, my ears feel fairly open but wet/sticky (like a the postnasal drip from a runny nose). Doing things like cracking my jaw/neck normally will cause a good deal of mucus drainage that I can cough up. They also will make noise about ever time I swallow. The mucus I cough up is normally clear but will come up white/green a few times a day. I haven't noticed any other symptoms at this point except maybe the ocassional earache and a tiny bit of light headedness.

I'm wondering if anyone has any insight into what's going on with me and what my best course of action is. I don't normally go to doctor's since I'm never normally sick, but now I've been to them several times and have been sick for over 2 months. I have an apointment scheduled with an ENT but that's not until mid april (most of the ENTs in my area were booked months ahead of time). Is there anything else I should be doing?
