Pulsing & pain in ears when exposed to loud noise
Hi everyone,
After the last couple concerts I went to I started noticing a dull pulsing thud in my left ear, usually when other noise was entering through my right ear (I talk on the phone frequently at work). Sharp frequencies are painful, and loud volumes directly in my ears are very brutal. Background noise, however, is usually pretty quiet, and I find myself turning the TV volume pretty high to hear it comfortably. I don't think I have tinnitus, because my ears rarely ring and I can still hear fine. Every once in a while one of my ears will kind of pop where the sound goes away completely, then a muffled ring brings the hearing back to normal. (I know THAT can't be good) But it's mostly just the pulsing thuds in the opposite ear I'm retrieving the sound from. (talking on right ear makes left ear thud, vice versa) It is uncomfortable for sure, and at times can be painful. It feels like my head is compressing, and that at some point my ear(s) are going to just pop completely, and permanently. I have an appt to see a specialist in a month but until then, any comments or thoughts would be greatly appreciated, as I couldn't find anyone through search engines who experience this problem too.
