Relapse after 10 years ... why?

    Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if anyone else has suffered a relapse after having their inner ear issue under control for a long time? About 13 years ago, after getting a virus that attacked my inner ear, I ended up with damage and received a diagnosis of Endolymphatic Hydrops. My specialist put me on a diuretic and I did physical therapy. I was horribly sick for awhile with near constant vertigo, balance issues, dizziness and weird head sensations. But after those therapies I started to improve and eventually came off my diuretic to live a normal life (only experiencing a small vertigo attack maybe 1-2 a year if that- probably less).

All of a sudden it has come back after nearly a decade of relief at the age of 46. Here are some of the variables I can think of that could be affecting it:

*worsened allergies (also a byproduct of peimenopause)
*a recent stressful trip to NY (although I have flown before and been fine)
*stress at home (difficulty with one of my children and a daughter who has health problems)

Have any of you experienced relapse like this?

Thanks & best wishes to everyone suffering with this disease

I have had an inner ear virus 3 or 4 times in 15 years,....The last was 2 months ago. I know it was an inner ear virus because you start to have eye tracking problems and (dead give away your balance is so messed up you can't walk very well.) And you wake up and the room spins without turning your head . (bounce in vision all the time) I did my own rehab , did not drive, food delivered to my house , and it took me one month to get over it.......good luck
