    BPPV Maneuvers/Exercises

I have recently been diagnosed with BPPV and I have been prescribed with Ginkgo Biloba, I have also been given a series of maneuvers to do (Brandt-Daroff Exercises) and exercises from the (Neurologische Klinik of Berlin) I only started the exercises 3 days ago.

Is it normal to initially feel worse when starting these maneuvers or is this just the body adjusting.

Does anyone have any experience in this ???.

    Hi Alistair,

The person who has experince with this is SUBS and I am sure he will reply soon as he checks the boards. From memory he did the same set of exercise for some time and it did the trick then he did VRT to help the old brain compensate.

I think its pretty normal not to feel great doing the exercises it does take time.

I myself have had the epley a few times and actually felt horrible after them for a few days which again happens in 40% of people.

May I ask what your symptoms are, how long you have had it, what started it off and how they diagnsoed bppv?

    Many Thanks!

    Cool Re: BPPV Maneuvers/Exercises

    Hi

    Yep it is normal.

Search the web on "HOME TREATMENT OF BPPV"

The Brandt-Daroff Exercises are a method of treating BPPV, usually used when the office treatment fails.

They succeed in 95% of cases but are more arduous than the office treatments.

These exercises may take longer than the other maneuvers -- the response rate at one week is about 25%.

These exercises are performed in three sets per day for two weeks.

In each set, one performs the maneuver as shown five times.

In approximately 30 percent of patients, BPPV will recur within one year.

If BPPV recurs, you may wish to add one 10-minute exercise to your daily routine

Has not reoccurred for me---yet!---been 22 months.....
