    Ear Problem??

    Hi,

I have a problem that I'm not sure what it is. I see a lot of posts on here that have simptoms close to mine but not exactly the same. Let me first say that I have went to two ENT's and my family doctor and they don't find anything wrong with me.

My main problems are that the hearing in my left ear is very sensative. When I hear a loud noise or a high pitch noise (like someone loud on the phone or a dog bark close to my ear) my ear doesn't hurt, but I feel strange and my vision will shift for a second. I can hold my nose and pop my ear and vision in both eyes with move up and down everytime I put pressure on my eardrum.

My left ear always feels full, sometimes more than others. I have noticed I have anxiety when my ear is more full and occasional headaches. I am tired a lot and irratable sometimes as well.

I can exercise and get my heart rate up and I can feel like my heartbeat in my head like pulsing.

I have taken antibiotics, tried sleeping on different sides, poping my ears a lot, not poping my ears at all, I feel like I have tried everything.

    Anyone have any suggestions??

    Thanks.

    hi...
when you say you feel strange....are you dizzy or do you get a strange feeling in your ear?
there are definatly problems that cause these symptoms.
where do you live? a lot of ents really dony know about the ear, and you need a neurotoligist....i can recommend a few depending on where you are at.

    Hi

    ...."Anyone have any suggestions??"

    Yep---could be this:

The "Tullio phenomenon; consists of dizziness induced by sound.

Go to the below page on the Northwestern Univ web site(Dr/Prof Hain's site)--it the various URL's are located in the Information Archive---sticky---first post on the board:

    Re: Ear Problem??

    Hello,

Just to back up what lib has said. You probably need to see a neurotologist. (Different from a neurologist) They do 3 more years training into the ear/dizziness etc.. on top of regular ENT training. ENT's are often next to useless if the problem is more specialised. The info that Subs has pointed you towards is probably written by a neurotologist

If you let people know whereabouts you are, hopefully someone on this board can point you in the right direction re a specialist. I'm in the UK, so if you're in the states I can't be much use to you on that score,

    best,

    Re: Ear Problem??

I live in South Carolina in a town called Williston, 29853. I started taking Magnesium a few weeks ago because I read that a deficiency in this could cause headaches, anxiety, dizziness, etc. It helped my ear from poping & the full feeling was reduced but this only lasted for a few weeks. Now it's just as if I had not taken it at all.

I don't really get dizzy. It's not like a spinning dizzy, it's more like I'm off balance. I can put my finger in my ear like as if I were going to scratch it and move my finger up and down and my vision moves with it. If I pinch my nose to pop my ear my vision will shift.

When I say I feel funny I mean that I have like a really tired feeling and a feeling of anxiety.
