panic or something else?

today i was just standing in the kitchen the guys in the band had just come over and we were just talking and all of a sudden i got really lightheaded and off balance on my feet and my eyes felt off and i needed to walk to my room and lay down. i felt really paniced in my chest and i was probably just working myself up.

this has happened a number of times since this has all started but it really makes me mad now cause it has been so long since the last time it happened.

anyone else get that? do you think it was just hyperventalaion?? or just getting worked up? i get anxiety pretty bad with this but i don't normally get all wozzy and off balance all of a sudden like that.

i felt better as i laid down and concentraed on breathing. i still felt off when i got up but it was more mild and now it seems to be dying down.

Re: panic or something else?

Could be a panic attack. Your description of symptoms is fairly similar to how I felt several times. Sudden onset of feeling "lousy" that made it seem impossible to continue doing whatever I was doing; felt like I HAD to get out of whatever situation I was in asap. The worst was usually over somewhat quickly but the uneasy feeling lingered for a while.

One of the worst feelings in the world. At least it was for me.

Yup - it's a panic attack and you're probably totally sensitised to them because of the inner ear problems just as I've become. You have to learn to not react to the attacks though. When I get all woozy and know it's coming, I just realise that's all it is - just another attack that can't do you any harm. More an annoyance than anything else now. Concentrate on your breathing and ride it out. Eating something usually kills it too. Maybe your new med is revving things up too.

Re: panic or something else?

I am sure panic/anxiety has a lot to do with repeat attacks. I was taken out of the supermarket on Saturday in a wheelchair as I suddenly got dizzy and off balance and I knew I would fall over if I didn't sit down. I was so mad because I had been more or less 100% in the supermarket recently. But when I got to thinking about what might have triggered it the only thing I could think off was that on my way to the shop I had nearly had a bad accident - the roads near me were covered in black ice and a large van came sliding towards me, out of control, I also hit ice trying to get out of the way and in the end we just missed each other. I think with the adrenalin rush and stopping breathing properly when I parked the car about 5 minutes later I was in shock and that made me dizzy. Maybe if I had waited for 30 minutes it wouldn't have happened. But when I got home instead of lying down as I would have done a year ago I decided to keep moving - I washed the kitchen floor, changed the bed sheets, that kind of thing, I I recovered OK.
