Call for more balance specialists

In the UK 'The Royal College of Physicians are calling for more doctors specialising in hearing and balance problems'. This has been given big coverage in the news this morning, both on BBC Radio4 and this morning's BBC1tv. As we can't post links to outside web sites on this board you will have to find the coverage by doing a search but there are a couple of interesting case studies, one has Menieres and the other MAV. In both cases, they had suffered for several years without getting a diagnosis and in the video clip the gp actually says that one of the biggest problems that sufferers have is getting seen by the right specialist. She makes the point that most gps don't know that an ENT specialist may be brilliant at throats but will know absolutely nothing about balance/dizziness. The stories make it clear how devasting and life-changing a balance problem is.

Re: Call for more balance specialists

Dolly..a good friend of mine in Bristol was called to share her this physicians meeting. Her story should come out over the next few weeks. She went a long while not getting diagnosed with MAv. Now she is on meds and is really starting to improve. Her doctor is in Kent...dr. serentheran(sp?)

I would love to see where we could read about this!
