Can I have menieres, even if I'm not dizzy???

Four months ago I suddenly felt fulness in my ear, and a loud, highpitch ringing in my right ear. I tested my hearing, and the result told me that I had a hearing loss. The lower tones were fine, but especially the high tones were hard for me to hear.

I did a brainscan, and I dont have a tumor. I have done several balance tests, and my balance is perfect. And I never fell dizzy. I only have a hearing loss and high tone ringing in my ear.

So why do I think that I have Menieres? I've read on a forum about 3-4 people who initially got the hearing loss and tinnitus, and THEN got the dizziness. So I'm wondering, can it be the next step? These people also injured there heads several years ago, just like me. I got beaten up eight years ago, and smashed my head to the curb. It gave me a tiny hearing loss and a tiny tinnitus, on the same ear. So I actually had the problems earlier, but not like now - by far. I have the same step 1 and 2 as these cases, so why not step 3, the dizziness?

So my question is - can I have Menieres, and get the dizziness attack later on, even if I:
1, never feel dizzy at all
    2, hear low tones perfect
3, have a hig tone tinnitus, not a low tone
4, the hearing loss and ringing is stable, the same all the time

So basicly, can the the hearing loss and tinnitus come BEFORE the dizziness attacks?

By the way, I'm 29 years old and I have a very stressful job.

    Best Regards
    Karl-Johan

    Karl-Johan,
I have Menieres and believe me, it is very complicated. There are many other ear conditions that you should be looking at. I am by far not a doctor but highly recommend that you seek a good specialist (ENT) and if your answers don't satisfy you, seek another physician. I went through alot of testing before a proper diagnosis was made. A neurologist tried to tell me I needed to see a neuro-psychiatrist because he couldn't find a neuro-related problem. Thank God I didn't listen to him. I have Menieres, I'm not "crazy", although I felt like I might be before getting a proper diagnosis. You should seek out a clinic that specializes in inner ear disorders. My ENT suspected Menieres and admitted it was out of his league and told me about the Silverstein Institute in Sarasota, Fl. That's where I got my diagnosis. In conclusion, I've never heard of a Menieres patient not experience dizziness or imbalance. Good luck.

I have been having ear problems for 14 months now. My ENT thinks I may have Menieres disease. I told him I do not have virtigo and he said I don't have to. So to answer your question, I guess yes you can have it without the dizziness.

Get an ECoG test done. It's about 60% specific to Miniere's. It's not 100%, but it's better than not doing it, it can help in the diagnosis of miniere's.
