Question Effect of IV/Anesthesia on Inner Ear Disorder???

Hi Everyone,

I have endolymphatic hydrops - my ear has difficulty regulating fluid balance. I developed this after a virus attacked my inner ear 7 years ago.

It is mostly under control now, however, I will be having surgery to remove part of my thyroid and I am quite nervous about getting an IV as I have had it in the past and my ear can't cope with my fluids being raised that quickly and I become very heavy headed and dizzy. I will most likely need to have an IV during surgery for the anesthesia drip.

Does anyone have experience with IV/anesthesia when you have an inner ear disorder? If so, what was the effect? How did it go? I am really nervous that this will complicate my surgery and recovery.

Thanks so much!
