    BPPV - Cupulolithiasis

Hi .. new to this group. I was diagnosed with right posterior BPPV, more specifically cupulolithiasis (i.e. stuck crystal). I am going on 2 months now. In past years I was always able to manage the vertigo by doing the Epley maneuver. But this time, since the crystal is stuck I can't get any relief. I also tried the Semont maneuver ... no success there either. They tell me this condition is very rare.

I had a 3-hr evaluation by an audiologist to rule out any other balance disorders. My ENT and audiologist both agreed that this must be cupulolithiasis.

Then last week, at a follow-up visit, I was told I also have left posterior BPPV.

It seems almost unreal that I could have 2 rare conditions (bilateral BPPV and cupulolithiasis in the right ear) at the same time?!

    Any advice?

    Re: BPPV - Cupulolithiasis

I have been told that I have the same conditions as you, only just in the right ear. The doc says that I too have "stuck crystals". None of the "maneuvers" have helped me at all, and I have been through them a total of 10 times as of this date. What suggestions do they give you? I'm being referred to a specialist that does " posterior canal plugging (occlusion). Have you heard of this? Would really like someone's input, as I don't know anyone who has gone through this. I'm afraid of the after effects not knowing what could happen.
