Hi...always frustrating when new symptoms pop up, especially if you have another with that experience and a diagnosis such as leukemia.

Is it just a small amount? have you been itchy and might have scratched? I do that and I get those pinprick type areas. I also get them on my face but they do look more like broken blood capillaries.

Do you have results of any of the blood tests you've had lately?

It's just on my leg. Like my thigh and my calf. It's a small amount, some of it went away this morning but I still have some. I haven't itched or anything like that. I haven't gotten any results yet, and I don't think I will until I ask. The appointment I had a month ago was the last blood test that was taken, and I never heard anything about them. One was for inflammation, one for metabolism, and then two more for something else, I don't remember. But the inflammation and metabolism one are the ones I want to know about. I'm also very mad at my doctor because I told him fiber won't work and he made me take it anyway. My stomach is almost hard because I can't go, the fiber is just bulking everything up instead of helping. It's making me feel yucky and heavy and angry. Like, I feel like I've gained a lot of weight and ugh. There's a lot of mucus too.

Hi...what kind of fibre exactly are you using? There are different kinds, and some does help to soften and fluff the stool, improving peristalsis to help it move along.

is the metabolism one comprehensive metabolic panel?

I hope some answers come of it....the waiting for the next step is difficult. Is it your GI that did the blood test requisition?

Good that the pin points are less. If it clears up, it might have been an irritation or like an allergy. Did you mention your sister's leukemia? to the doctor?

Hey, only one more week till the c-scope...what prep will you be taking?
now, that's the fun part....not, lol.

The fiber he told me to take is the Metamucil capsules. I told him that fiber makes things worse and he said "fine, just take one instead of five". I've taken the powder stuff, the pills, the snacks. It all just bulks me up and hurts. This morning I pushed on my tummy and it was all hard, not squishy like it should be.

Yeah, that's the metabolism one, sorry I'm not very good with the medical jargon.

I'm keeping an eye on the spots, there's still a couple but they seem to be working itself out. I got worried for nothing I guess. I always mention my sister leukemia, but it doesn't run in the family. It was just an accident of chromosomes.

I'm nervous, I don't know what to expect! The day before I have to take 4 dulcolax at 1pm. Then at 3pm I get to drink the miralax, 238 gram bottle in a 64 ounce thing of water. Im not looking forward to that! I took both days off of work for the comfort. They were totally okay and understanding with that.

Hi...not for nothing, you are observant.

It's great you had the opportunity to take the time off work. I still grumble through my prep (I use the gallon PEG) and I've had 10 (or 11) done.
What do you mean you don't know what to expect....during the prep?
I'd suggest you drink each glass with a straw farther back into the mouth rather at the front. It's easier to swallow the solution quickly than just drinking it. Are you supposed to have it chilled?

You might want to eat a bit lightly the day before the prep.

Well today is prep day and it went a lot better than I thought. The mix didn't taste bad at all (I chilled it and mixed it with some lemonade powder). The only thing is that there was a ton of mucus in my stool , I don't know if that's normal or not with laxative use like this. And I'm very hungry.

yeah...the hunger lingers till after the scope. Mucus means there's either inflammation/irritation or extreme activity. If it was in the stool, then something's going on. Once cleared out, the yellow gastric fluids are normal...

Hope the scope goes well...please update!

So I'm back home and more frustrated than ever.

The whole thing wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be, however my doctor is a jerk.

They saw nothing, but they did take a biopsy for micro-something colitis. He says that it's IBS and they're only doing it to make me happy I guess. He told me to drink prune juice and walked away. No other help or follow up or anything.

I'm so upset because I want help, not to be shrugged off. I'll get the results for the biopsy in 2 weeks.

I'm sorry your doctor was a jerk. How frustrating to have been dealing with this for so long and then be treated this way! I've had a similar experience yet hate the thought of starting over with a new GI doctor. Maybe the biopsy will show something and you'll prove him wrong! If you're told the biopsy is normal, you may want to get a copy of your records to see for yourself. Doctors' notes can sometimes be telling too.

Hi Hannah....frustrating with a GI like that, but truly hoping that the biopsies will reveal what's going on. He's talking about microscopic colitis.

Do make that list of questions when you see him....and get copies of results from all the tests/biopsies, etc you've had done.

You aren't stuck yet...requesting to seek another specialist from your GP could be helpful. When you do see your GP, he/she could read you the report from the GI and possibly give you a copy (as STLouisgal suggested).

Keep us posted on the biopsy results. It's good the process wasn't as scary as anticipated. Did you have a good breakfast afterward?
